The 23rd May 1992 a car bomb killed anti-Mafia judge Giovanni Falcone. Mr Falcone's wife was also killed in the blast, as were the bodyguards of the magistrate. Two months later, in July, another car bomb killed Paolo Borsellino (in the photo with Falcone), who took Falcone's job against Mafia. His sister today is the candidate in the election (28th May 2006) for the regional government in Sicily.
